How I Save Money Using Ibotta

I’VE BEEN WAITIN FOR THIS ONE!

A few weeks ago I scrolled on TikTok passed a woman who got nearly $30 worth of hygiene products for FREE. Crazy right? I thought to myself, “There’s no way this lady just snagged all that stuff for nothing. There’s gotta be a catch”.

I started following her (@couponingmillenial) and quickly realized that she really was picking these items up for free or at the most a few dollars for a bulk supply. Now listen, I’m the type of girl that goes to the store even when she doesn’t need anything. I’ll stroll the aisles and pick up things that I 100% know I don’t need but buy anyways. I knew that if I had an outlet for my so called shopping addiction, I could better manage our household finances AND save for the things I truly wanted without putting a dent in our bank account. So I started exploring this new strategy!

I realized that there are many different ways to coupon and the majority of young people think couponing means PAPER coupons only. I have news for you, it doesn’t! I learned that couponing can be done through store apps (Target, Dollar General, CVS, Walgreens, etc.). I also found that you can stack these virtual coupons with Ibotta rebates which then would equal “free to purchase” or severely discounted deals.

Let me give you a simple example…

- Target sells the Air Wick Botanica Scented Oil Starter Kit for $3.69.

- On the Target app, you can clip a $1.50 off coupon.

- On the Ibotta app, you clip the $1.50 back rebate.

After these coupons your total becomes $0.69 + you’d also get 5% back if you use your Target debit or credit card at checkout. Cool right?

And honestly you guys, it really is THAT simple. I suppose the only thing to really keep track of is when certain deals expire and making sure they’re in your apps before going to the store. This makes for an easy checkout process and allows a stress free shopping experience!

But Ibotta and Target don’t just feature coupons and rebates that are household or beauty based. They also feature food, alcohol, clothing, pet and baby related deals along with much more. I’m constantly telling my husband that I’ll NEVER pay full price for diapers, wine, laundry detergent, toothbrushes, or dog food again because there’s always some sort of discount for those things.

I think the best part about using these apps is that you’re saving money on things you’re already buying. Better yet, when you score free items that you may not necessarily need or want, they can be donated to charities or local homeless shelters.

Another important point I wanted to make is that Ibotta gives users the opportunity to earn monthly bonuses based on how often you use the app and discover deals. During my first week of use, I racked up $88 in cash that I deposited straight into my bank account! Now part of that was a sign up and referral code bonus but a majority of my savings was from things I just ran in to buy.

With the holidays right around the corner, this is a great way to save for big gifts or trips you plan to take in the upcoming year. Whether you’re just interested in saving a couple bucks, helping others, or something more...YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD IBOTTA!
