Spring Cleaning Inspiration

It may not feel like spring but I’m already in the cleaning mood! So, I wanted to share a few of the changes I’m making in my own home towards a more organized living space. This is the general vibe I’m going for…

- Tip #1: Start the move out process. Before I start organizing anything, I like to make sure I have a clean slate. First, I’ll clear out an area that I’m working on, scrub it down, and then restock with the items I’m sure I’ll get use out of.

I recently did this with our bathroom and boy, did I find a TON of product that we either forgot about or just became expired. I took everything out of our bathroom linen closet and only put back the things we use on a daily basis. It made for so much extra storage space and just felt more organized already!

- Tip #2: Find bins and storage containers that work for YOU. Of course the ideas on Pinterest look beautiful but are they actually functional? Take this into consideration when choosing your bins and baskets.

I mixed it up by getting a variety of different containers. For my toddler’s toys, I went with wicker baskets and storage that would hide her things inside. But under the sink, I went for clear containers with handles and mesh baskets. This way, we could see inside. You get the idea!

- Tip #3: Utilize stackable and space saving storage. I was able to find some risers for our dinner plates and cups that work great in our kitchen. Instead of having everything piled on top of each other, each item has a place to go and they’re easily accessible to us. I hated having our cups stacked together. It just looked messy.

- Tip #4: Label! Labeling doesn’t have to mean using a label maker. You can get creative and just label with some tape, printer paper, and a sharpie. I started labeling our spices and it has worked wonders during dinner time! I can see everything so much clearer and don’t have to dig around for what I need.

- Tip #5: Implement a daily cleaning/organizing routine. Every morning, I take about 10 or 15 minutes to clean our space. For me, that means picking up any toys on the ground, wiping down surfaces, and doing a quick vacuum. It takes the stress off of the task and allows me to stay productive throughout my work day!
